Speaker biography: Austine Ng'ombe

Austine Ng'ombe is a PhD candidate at Oxford Brookes University where he is investigating land policy processes insofar as they relate to the privatisation of customary land rights in Zambia. His qualifications are in Land Economy where he holds a BSc (Copperbelt University, Zambia) and an MSc (ITC, Netherlands) in Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (Major: Urban Land Administration). Prior to commencement of his PhD in 2005, Austine had been working as a Provincial Lands Officer in the Department of Lands in Zambia. Currently, Austine is also working part time as a Research Assistant at the Oxford Institute of Sustainable Development, Oxford Brookes University. His research interests hinge around urban development and the dynamics of land tenure, informed by the emerging science of complexity. Austine's recent publications include three book chapters (2009-2010) and a number of conference papers and research reports.
